A few weeks ago I was out with the camera and saw a cicada killer with his cicada, the very first time I have ever seen this in person. I have seen pics all over hte web, but never in person.
I was totaly amazed and while watching the action I missed the best angles on him before he flew away.
this is the shot I did get.

Isn't that just like darn bugs? Flying away just when you want to take some shots. How rude!
Reminds me of my Kenya trip. 90% of my zebra shots are butt shots.

What a grim way to go - can you just imagine seeing that attached to you? Nightmare.
Is that some kind of wasp or hornet?

They kill not only cicadas. This one was carrying some kind of worm. I thought at first it was a dragonfly with a broken tail. But when it landed...
