Oh well you beat me to it, I have to say the ribbon winners are very ordinary, but I guess it was over 9 years ago!

Didn't realize there had been an earlier one, thanks. Looks like it was way back in '03 and the 6.96 winner might probably only pull a high 5 in today's DPC environment.

no diss on the previous entrants, but i would agree the quality tended toward "snapshots"

Looks like a border was OK, back then.

Has something changed? I thought a border was ok now too...

This is a rather ambiguous topic... lets see what I can shoehorn in!

I'm quite at a loss as to what to shoot for this challenge!

It's ok according to the rules but the general feeling is that shots with borders get voted down a bit. At least that's what I've seen in discussions.

one of the best shots ever...
back when people put away the fancy equipment and took risks.

Time to test that theory.

I've tested the border patrol a few times. There are a few folks that don't like them and will always knock off pointage for them. They will say borders are just fine "when used appropriately", but you can't use a border and have them all agree that it is appropriate usage. I sometimes taunt them intentionally.

and

Nary a 1 2 or 3 vote

ETA:

I think letterbox type frames are by FAR the most effective, and white or black borders do better than colors or gray.

Take a look for yourself, the proof is in the pudding.

Good Luck to all who enter this challenge! Looking forward to seeing what everyone came up with.

I really wanted to do this challenge, but availability of models and time to shoot just did not come together....another one for the back burner:-(
