An impossible choice Robert, they are all inspirations for me and it actually makes me kind of sad that voters can't see beyond a shiny surface.

Had a chance to better go through my fave folders and check to see who was ribbonless amongst the group. Many of them have at least one, if only one. Trynig to find some ribbonless was harder than expected. But here are a couple worthy of mention.

It wasn't my intention to put them on a scale, just draw attention to them and get people thinking about the topic.

mqnaufal has 6 4th places without any ribbon, followed by



ionelpop with 3 4th places

Not sure if that qualifies for the "Best", but they have more interesting images

I'd like to add that I'm surprised to see many of my favorite DPC artists mentioned here! Makes me all the more thankful for the PH thread!

I would have nominated Neat a couple months ago. She ribboned in June. Lots of great folks already mentioned -- fun to peruse their portfolios.

The problem is that winners here (or any other contest sites with member voting) is a measure of mass appeal. When you enter something more artsy, it may be great photography, but fewer people will be in agreement on it. The wowee eye candy is easier to gain agreement on. This is why it is important to evaluate your entry's success on other factors besides just the average vote. I have many mid scoring entries that I consider to be more successful than others that placed high.
