Also, two registered user challenges this week instead of one. Didn't notice that earlier.

Ok, reworked and I like this version much better. :) I had to retitle as the first one was a synonym and not a hint.

I see the problem (impossibility?) with accomplishing the task in Advanced and like most of you I think there will have to be an exception to the rules posted.
I'm having trouble seeing how the possible alternative multiple exposure in camera would meet the challenge: "Capture three separate photographs to combine as a triptych with a secret word in mind." I do not consider three exposures in camera to be "three separate photographs".

I'm taking three separate photographs based on the original interpretation and will submit them as a triptych. If it gets DQ'd then, oh well :)

Perhaps you have to build a frame, or use a window with three panes and then get a cast of characters to pose in the three panels. Oops, that won't work -- it would only be one photograph. ;)

awwww,, but the special rules states "traditional non-overlapping sequence"... blah! i was hoping to be able to "blend" my photos together. nope, just three boring old "framed" pics arranged in some linear or 1-next-to-2 format

or am i missing something?

I have neither the time nor the energy to come up with an entry, but I am looking forward to seeing everyone else's.

It will be a fun challenge to vote on. Keep it comin', folks!

Did I miss an email changing the date parameters for Open Challenge? Up until today's email, the dates always followed the same formats.

Email: 7/4. Challenge "Independence II" 7/4 - 7/10. Vote for "Abstracts..." 7/4 - 7/10
Email: 7/11. Challenge "Desserts" 7/11 - 7/17. Vote for "Independence II" 7/11 - 7/17
Email: 7/18. Challenge "Mystery Word Triptych" 7/13 - 7/19. Vote for "Desserts" 7/18 - 7/24
Email: 7/25? Challenge " ?????" 7/20 - 7/26 ? Vote for "..Triptych" 7/20 - 7/26 ????

Thinking that the dates might be a typo, I sought an explanation in this Forum thread. But, all of your postings seem to indicate that the emailed dates for the current Open Challenge are correct. It looks as though "Desserts" and "Triptych" almost completely overlap. Will the email date change also, or will it continue to arrive on Wednesday - now the day before the current Challenge ends?

Normally, for me it wouldn't matter. But for once, a planned photo event would have worked perfectly for me to enter a specific Challenge (Triptych). Unfortunately, the trip doesn't occur until the 20th - 22nd. It's an "Oh, Well... too bad!", but if somebody would clarify the change for me, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks, Kathy

Guys, according to you which is the limit when creating 3 images with borders and inside a frame? Can be a too big frame DQ'd?

No, your frame can be as big as you want.
