My son is singing the national anthem with his A Capella group "Broad Street Line" at today's Phillies / Miami game. Unfortunately, it does not appear to be broadcast nationally, at least that I can find.
The game seems to only be on the local channel: Sunday, June 3 vs. Miami 1:35 PM PHL 17 1210 WPHT, 94 WIP
(at least according to schedule here: //philadelphia.phillies.mlb.com/schedule/broadcast/index.jsp?c_id=phi)
The national broadcast schedule doesn't cover it that I can see: //mlb.mlb.com/mlb/official_info/broadcasts/national.jsp?c_id=phi
If anyone who gets this signal has an easy way to record and digitize the singing segment (e.g., if you have a computer with a tuner like I do or a DVR that can do it) so you can easily post it or upload it to me, I'd appreciate it!

Sorry, I wish I would have seen this earlier. I have tuner cards in my PC and I get the channel. I could have easily done it. |

Thanks...I've been told they didn't show the National Anthem on TV, so we would not have caught it anyway. Apparently, they usually don't show it. :(
I'm hoping he knew someone there who might have captured it live...we'll see.
Thanks anyway! |

Sorry man, I was already at work by the time this aired... According to FSN here in South Florida, they are re-airing it tomorrow at 12 p.m. I set my DVR to record it, but I think they shorten that broadcast to two hours so it may be cut from it. Either way, I leave the house at 11 am tomorrow and won't get home from work until 10 pm, but I will have a look tomorrow night when I get home and let you know if it was on the Re-Air... From there, I don't have a way to digitize it, but I do have a DVD burner and would gladly burn and mail you a copy.

I was at the game today. Those guys were good! Sorry to hear that you didn't get to see it. I even know a guy who had 2 tickets he wanted to give away ... sigh |

Thanks, my son will be glad to hear that.
He just emailed me too...they did have someone in the stands at least who recorded the anthem. Not the best video and from so far back they had to video from the large screen, but it works!
They announced it wrong at the stadium...they say under the direction of Tom Patterson but it was actually my son who was conducting...you can thus tell which one he is in the brief shots of him on the monitor.

ETA: I don't know if this link will work, but the mascot apparently didn't like my son (a video just before they sang). Very funny (with NSFW language). Here's a shot of the start...because by the time it's rolling you don't see it. But watch what happens next if you can see the video.

A snapshot of the group before they sang the national anthem. I believe Neil's son Joel has the tag "The Joel" on his shirt. |

Thanks. Yes, he's "The Joel" to them (and the face being eaten by the mascot in my screen capture from the video below). They've even had some concert announcements "Broad Street Line Featuring The Joel". He's now their music director, but doesn't seem to be the featured soloist on many songs.
If anyone's interested, here's one I have of them featuring "The Joel" singing from last year:

And two other videos of theirs that I particularly love:
//www.youtube.com/watch?v=SqDigEggJkw - This is a great music video they did for an ISTE conference.
//www.youtube.com/watch?v=SAJPUm0giPY&feature=relmfu - The great song "Grace Kelly"
By the way, did the Phillies win? |

Off topic, but since I just said he doesn't get many solos, I thought I'd post an update as he finally got another!
New video out today featuring Broad Street Line with Joel singing "One and Only".

Sounds great...though I am indeed biased! Anyway, if anyone likes A Capella, give it a listen.
ETA: I should have had a better subject line all along...finally fixed so it's not confusing if it comes up in search results.)

I meant to get back here and tell you that I watched the Re-airing and unfortunately the National Anthem was skipped... I figured it would be because they always shorten the re-air, but it was worth a shot. |

Well thanks for that in any case! |
