No thumbnail shows when a DNG/RAW file is uploaded as an original! Is this normal?

Uploading to DPC? Only JPGs work. Unless you are talking for confirmation of a challenge shot. In that case here
Why I got a DQ'd photo. Check that when saving to DNG that you are embedding the original RAW into it, so you can extract it if needed for challenge confirmation original.

No. It DOES NOT count as an original unless your camera has a DNG (instead of NEF, etc) that it saves natively. You need the one that comes out of the camera. I had Photo Downloader converting to DNG and did not have the ORIGINAL embedded in the DNG and lost that NEF (Nikon) file. If you are using Photoshop, make sure that Photo Downloader EMBEDs the original. You can extract it later if needed.
Cameras that have DNG natively
Other DPC

I have been copying my CR2 files from the camera to the computer using LR adding them as DNG thinking the are considered as originals.

What do you know!!

from what I remember LR does embed the original also. I would check to make sure it is selected. If it has been, it is only a matter of extracting the original file out if you ever need to send it to DPC

I extracted an original but it has a DNG file extension. Or should it come out as CR2?
