^^^ Snaffles I bookmarked that link by the way... And thank you for posting it... I'll post one that I have been using for a while.

//www.worth1000.com/tutorials

Slowly but surely I'm learning, little by little. I'm learning on GIMP though cause I'm broke like a joke, but to tell you the truth, I don't have a hard time following the tutorials. I struggled at first because I didn't really know allot of the terminology. You just have to have a working knowledge of layers and layer masks. If you don't, you can always hit up Youtube for that.

Anyway, I think what has been left out is that in order to follow the style of Gyaban, PS skills are only 33%... WIth Photography being 33% and The other 33% is the Creativity that goes into his photos. The man has allot of ribbons in Advanced and Basic too, and he got those by using his creativity. So with that said, I think a challenge where we could try to learn some new PS skills, as well as , take our creativity to its outer limits, could be allot of fun. Although given my weekly time limitations, a month long challenge would be wonderful :)

The truth about the "In the Style of: Gyaban" challenge is that Gyaban would be the only person so far to win their own "In the Style of:" challenge.

Thank you Snaffles and Sirashley. I've bookmarked both of those pages. There should be enough material there to keep me busy foe a couple of years. Sorry I don't have any links to contribute. (If I find any I'll put them in here.)

I know I couldn't come close to doing the guy justice in a challenge like this, I could maybe sneak up his way and try and snatch a candid of him mowing his lawn or something. I think maybe it's about time we had this challenge and I for one would look forward to voting on it.

I'd participate :) would make me think outside the box and where normally I try to keep my shots more photographic than artwork it'd give me good reason to step outside of that and go at it with photoshop more. Yeah I'm definitely up for this one actually.

Oh, I wasn't trying to say that it's just his use of pp. As you say it's just as much photography and creativity. I often tell noobs in critiques to not rely on PS to save a poor image, and to not kill a good image with too much PS. But mostly this thread was about trying to emulate his PS skills/style which is why I did focus on that, too. He's got the perfect balance of all three elements going and it shows. I know I'm OK in the creativity and photo departments, it's my PS skillz that need work! :-)

And jagar, would love for you to sneak up on Christophe mowing his lawn. Bet it would be a great capture, esp in your own complelling b/w style.

ETA @ Sirashley - yep, that site is going to be a massive help. The tutorials I've read so far are very well-written and he takes pains to show exactly what he's talking about.
