So I was wondering, about this challenge, would people regard reflections as symmetrical, I googled it and a load of photos showed water reflections....would that be meeting the challenge. |

I would say yes...that is my personal opinion though

And I cancel you out because I would say no.
Unless it was a perfectly calm, perfectly mirrored reflection... |

reflections are overdone lately. (my opinion) |

I suspect with the comments already, you have figured out you are going to take some hits in voting with water reflection. For me it meets the challenge -- a body of water is nature. However, I might be more impressed with symmetry captures that do not involve water's reflection.

ditto for me. we have "reflection" challenges, and this ain't one of those. |

Ok I get the idea...I thought I would throw that out just in case, and glad I did.
Thanks. |

I wonder if the symmetry has to mirror perfect? |

Again, speaking for myself. No. But reasonably close. |

Interesting...A well executed mirror/reflection would get good marks from me.....Lol.
edit; and I haven't shot for this challenge yet and wasn't considering a reflection type shot. In fact, I have to shoot on Sunday so I hope I can come up with something.

I googled it as well Symmetry in nature
and got the following images. Very few water reflections

How is the Fibonacci Spiral symmetry? I'm confused. |

I get what is a Fibonacci Spiral. But is a Fibonacci Spiral the only one with symmetry? Or do all spirals have symmetry? Is there such a thing as spiral symmetry? I think of a spiral as harmony. If the Fibonacci Sprial has symmetry, does the Golden Mean share its symmetry. So, is there anything in nature with no symmetry?
The rose has no symmetry. The water molecule has no symmetry. Bryce Canyon has no symmetry.

The water molecule does indeed have symmetry - C2 rotational symmetry and two plane symmetries. Please be accurate with your responses.
And while a Rose may be assymmetric, many flowers are symmetrical in a rotational manner.

We tend to think of symmetry as "mirroring". We are inclined to see as most symmetrical bilateral symmetry. But that's not all symmetry is. There is, for example, radial symmetry.
Gotta keep an open mind, people. There's very little in nature that grows that is not symmetrical, actually. And much that is inanimate, for that matter.

I'm fighting with this -- simply because I'm not sure mine's "symmetric enough". I've entered it, but I keep thinking I'll take it out, because I'm wondering if it will get slammed. Then I tell myself -- I don't care. Then I say I do. Then I say it's not symmetric enough. Then I say it is. Multiply this by about 40 times and you'll get today. :)

Well, bilateral symmetry and radial symmetry are easy. Fibonacci symmetry is new to me. I like new ideas, just struggling to get this into my head. Starting to feel insecure. If 'everything' in nature has symmetry of some kind, then I fear I may not vote appropriately due to my lack of understanding.
There's visual symmetry. Conceptual symmetry. Theoretical symmetry. Narrative symmetry. Rotational symmetry. Two plane symmetry.
The human hand doesn't look symmetrical to me, but there may be more surprises in store.
So does a rose have spiral symmetry? or what?
And what kind of symmetry is the voter looking for? If you take a picture of an object with rotational symmetry & the result happens to look not-symmetrical in any way, is that DNMC.
Gosh DPC has made me paranoid!
vawendy I know how you feel. I googled asymmetry & lo! a picture of my subject appeared amongst the others. Oh no!
