Motion Panning Again
Motion Panning... Yet again!
And... now... Motion Panning... Yet again ... for the uhhh... next time.
Carry on with your camera in your car at high speeds.

Yup... 2006, 2007, 2009, 2012... Not too bad for a valid technique challenge that lets people practice a rarely utilized but extremely valuable skill.

There have also been motion blur challenges in which panning was one of the possible techniques. Thar could explain why it seems to have been more frequent.
