I like the Instagram shot. very '70s.
What fascinates me most is that no one died (that I've heard). It is amazing. |

In a really weird way, seeing a tornado is actually on my bucket list. My mom had an F1 pass through her yard, about a 100 yards from her house, a few years ago. She didn't see it though, hiding in the cellar and all. |

We had an F1 tornado a few hundred yards behind my house not long ago, but I was at work. My kids were getting off the school bus at the time and had a fun time running up the driveway to get inside. |

Some natural disasters are more photogenic than others :-)
Yes, I'd like to see a tornado someday. Also, a volcano eruption... |

I've seen and lived through several tornadoes. (Iowa native most of my life, before Colorado.) The small tornadoes are interesting, an adrenaline rush and somewhat photogenic. The big tornadoes tend to be so violent they block out the sun and don't allow much "viewing". I do NOT miss living in tornado alley.
I've never seen an active volcano. That is on my bucket list, too. |

Tornado's are amazing to watch and I have to admit I am a bit fascinated by them, I loved watching storm chasers on TV and seeing the power and massive size of some of these storms. My wife and I helped do some clean up of a tornado in Ohio years ago, there was a semi trailer tossed up on top of a factory and seeing those kinds of things in person give you a lot of respect for the power of these storms. Happy to hear there were no deaths but sorry for all the loss of property and disruption of lives. |

A tornado is no fun, the sound is deafening - some have described it "like a freight train" I thought it like ten freight trains, terrible damage that can result, as recently witnessed in Texas and Joplin is life changing. When I looked at the discussion heading I mistakenly thought of this: Texas Tornados |
