This location is truly depressing we are talkin about grand central station but in Detroit. Detroit has bee hit hard by the economic downturn.......It is sad that buildings of this scale are in a scale of dereliction. This is very informative of what is going on. There are some great views and pics

It's sad about the state of the economy and what the consequences are - BUT that is an awesome place to take photos!

When I was a little girl, we used this station for our travel. And we wore our best Sunday clothes. |

I am a sucker for architecture.... I hate to see a great work of art just crumble like that. I wish they could do to this train station what they did to the one in saint louis

I would love to see a building like this brought back from the dead and complletely restored. It could be repurposed like the train station in St Louis.

That is a truly beautiful building and the 360 degree views are really cool. I can appreciate that is a fabulous place for photography now, but also how amazing it would be when restored. Gorgeous either way; definitely needs to be preserved. |

I live 100 miles north of Detroit. I really need to get down there for photography purposes. It is definitely a great place for the photographer. |

I would love to go too but there is no way I can go all the way to detroit. It's only 1062 miles for me

I used to live near Flint but moved to Northern Mi. I really miss the urban stuff! |

yeah I love urban places....There is an abandoned hospital here...built turn of the century that I would love to shoot. Only prob is it is right next door to a correctional facility. They wouldn't have to take me far when they caught me tresspassing.

I don't think it is open to the public. There is a former Detroit cop who lives down here. He has a lot of shots of the station, but they are all taken from outside the fence -- and they are not particularly good. |

Terry, we have to get together and do some shooting. I would really like to hit the urban areas of Detroit. Lets plan on that sometime this summer. Seriously. I'm really glad I was able to get some shots of the old Tiger Stadium before they tore it down. |

There are some nice images in that set, but I think Basta has some even better. He really nails the grandure of these decaying beauties.
