....Peregrine Falcon, Falco peregrinus.
This falcon knocked a white-faced Ibis out of the flock during a flyover. He is surveying his prey. A little later, I saw the Ibis recover and fly to rejoin the flock.

Okay, this takes me to 68 species, I think. There are three days left in April. Our HBs just arrived in town. And, I saw American Pipits, today. So, I haven't run out of birds and will continue to photograph what I see. How 'bout the rest of you? |

Congrats Richard, you've captured so many terrific species! I've really enjoyed seeing them.
I've captured 47 species so far. I went out this evening on the hunt for a few more, but no luck... even the Canada Geese were nowhere to be seen. I don't blame them, it's windy, dull & freezing here! Sun is supposed to come out tomorrow, so I'll be out once again. I know there are killdeer around, they've eluded me so far! |

I have 31 species. No zoos here. It's a little early for species like warblers, swallows, osprey, yellowlegs, etc. I thought I would see a flicker this month but didn't. I doubt I will find anymore but you never know. |

Metallic Starling
Peacock
I really did photograph quite a few, I just haven't found the time to edit or post them. I've been a very poor participant this time and I apologize. |

More shots from zoo day. Still have a few more to go.
King Vulture
Sun Conure
Sacred Ibis
Eastern White Pelican
Lesser Flamingos
European White Stork
Male Peacock
2 Ostriches. One was brown and one was white and black, I'm not sure the which is male or female. I tried googling it but seems females can be white and black or brown.
Blacksmith Plover
Masked Lovebird |

I went to the local zoo today, which is a really sad place for the animals. But as I went with my Japanese nieces and nephew, it was worth a shot. It being Golden Week holidays, though, it was very crowded. Getting clear shots of most of the birds is very difficult because you have to shoot through wires and bars (hence some are a bit blurred).
Wattled Crane
Blue crane
Crowned crane
Goshawk
Steller's sea Eagle
I've uploaded all my previous entries into the Birds folder in my portfolio.

Guineafowl
A forgotten zoo photo. My last one. Guess I've captured 51 different ones.
Thanks Dirt_Diver for starting this very nice side challenge.
It was nice to get out and shoot some birds and I've learned a lot about birds
this month (never been very busy with that before). |

My last batch (from the last couple of weeks).
Pileated Woodpecker - I stalked this guy all over the farm until he finally settled outside one of the barns where I could take some cover to get this.
Goldfinch
Song Sparrow - we had a late season snow storm early this week, which made for a nice contrast with the spring flowers.
Mallard
American Crow
European Starling
Dark-eyed Junco
Blue-winged Teal
It's hard to see, but I'm fairly certain this is an Osprey
Also hard to see, maybe a sandpiper?
Brown-headed Cowbird
Great Blue Heron
Wild Turkey
I think that makes a total of 30 species. This has been a lot of fun to participate in, I've learned so much and had a great time. Sorry again for not commenting as much as I would have liked, but I definitely appreciate the comments that I have received. |

Seriously...how cute can something be? These are baby Canadian Geese. We got so lucky...same day as we saw 8 baby wood ducks swimming after their Momma!
Here's their Momma, taking a bath (I know, I only get great for the Mom or the babies...not both...lol)
I call this poor little guy the "Exxon Valdez Duck"
Most of the rest of these aren't very good shots...but I got them, at least...lol...
No idea what this little guy is, but I know I haven't shot him yet this month...till now. Not a great shot...but it counts...lol.
Another fuzzy pic but also another pair of crazy ducks.
My favorite crazy duck
Black Phoebe (this would have been a great shot, if he'd waited for me to get closer!)
European Ring Necked Dove
Not sure what this is...but he's pretty
That's 43..including the crazy ducks. I got a couple more...but too tired to find them. Thanks for a fun idea!

Dark-eyed Junco
Possibly another dark-eyed junco? another angle of the same bird.
Snow Goose
Northern Flicker
Pileated Woodpecker
Brown Creeper, Certhia americana, Thank you Richard for identifying this one for me.
