The MegaMillions is now up to $640 million for the 26 year annuity ($24.6m/yr) prize and $462 million for the cash option (for a single winner). If this thing doesn't hit tonight, I wouldn't be surprised to see it go to $1 billion on Tuesday night.
Before taxes. Of course.

I know what you mean. I'm getting tired of losing. I must be doing something wrong. |

I purchased 1 (yes ONE) ticket yesterday, and that's all I'm buying. I have friends that have spent lots of money. I just don't see the point. I'm willing to lose $1, but not more than that. |

What state is this for anyway? Or do we have a national lottery of which I am unaware?

The Jackpot now has reached $640 Million and should go up again before tonight's drawing. If no one wins tonight, I wonder what it will go up to?
ETA: The news said a person has better odd having two holes-in-one during the same round of golf, than winning the lottery. But I'm buying a ticket anyway!

When I win this lotto, I am going to buy 1x.com and then proceed to reject any image that doesn't have Godzilla in it. |

So wrong.
You're odds with one ticket are 50/50. You either win or lose. With 100 tickets, and each being 50/50, your odds go up to 1 - 1.12589991 × 10^15, practically 1. Just make sure you're on their good side before the draw tonight.
[ edit ]
Worked out the odds on the actual lottery, it's 1:175,711,536. Good luck to everyone playing.

I picked up a whopping $5 worth of tickets yesterday. I might grab a few more before the drawing. If I win, I'll blow it all on hats. |

Bear, it's the Mega Millions.
Where can I play Mega Millions?
You can buy Mega Millions tickets from lottery retailers/agents in 42 states plus the District of Columbia and the U. S. Virgin Islands; a total of 44 jurisdictions. The eight states that do not have Mega Millions drawings are Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Alaska, and Hawaii.

Every day the old man prayed, "Dear God, I've always lived a good and modest life -- please let me win the lottery."
Day after day this went on, this plaintive "please let me win the lottery," over and over and over ...
Finally one day, the skies clouded over and a voice boomed out of the heavens, "Enough already, I hear you. But you've got to help me out -- at least buy a ticket." |

LOL. Yeah, I heard your chances go up dramatically if you buy a ticket. |
