The Story
In short, he tweeted the address of a George Zimmerman. thinking it was that Zimmerman who shot Trayvon Martin. It ended up not being the house and the couple that lives there had to move out because of harassment.
Even if it was the house, isn't what he's doing a kind of vigilantism? "Everyone get over there and F$*k his Sh#t up!" is the message I got from that kind of a tweet. The couple should be seriously compensated for their troubles caused by Mr. Lee. Even if this had been the real Zimmerman, I think it would've been illegal (I think) and if ANYTHING had happened to him BEFORE a trial were to take place, it would've been all on Spike Lee. |

The whole point is that he wasn't arrested. I could sympathize with the position that a discreet minority in a society where the police will not enforce the laws feels there is no justice.
I happen to believe in letting the police and the justice system do the right thing, for lack of a better phrase. Some people are iconvenienced, that's not a good scene, but the underlying tragedy is that a boy died, and Spike lee would be quietly watching the Knocks Lose, courtside, if not for the failing of "southern Justice"- and for what it is worth, he has a bunch of white people talking about it.
but you are right- at very least it is a lesson in not jumping to conclusions...
