I had never known how to find out my shutter count, ran across astrojargon and installed to find out my shutter count... less than I had originally thought. It's a few shots shy of 23k. I was thinking it was closer to 50k, lucky for me. Then again, for the past 6 months, I haven't shot anything really. I'm going through withdrawl!!! LOL.

Anyways, hopefully it'll keep on clicking well past the 50k expectancy. That is the expectancy for the 450D, correct?

That seems really low to me though...
Here's a discussion

Still, 50,000 seems sorta low...

From everything I've read, 50k seems to be the average for this camera. I am looking to get the t3i in the near future. But until then, looks like I *may* be replacing the shutter soon. Hope not tho

The average for entry level D-SLR's across the board is 100,000 actuations. Individuals report more in most cases, some less... But that is what you should expect to be ok with. I assume luck, how you treat your gear, and sheer avoidance of murphy have something to do with your overall final shutter count :)

Meh, I've got around 20-25KK on my 40D and it is on it's 3rd (4th?) shutter....the refurbs they put in last about two months past warranty in my experience. It was my belief that 100K is the normal average. It will very! Good luck!

You will need a program, Adam. There are lots out there, but here is a link for one. I'll see if I can find the one I downloaded a couple of years ago. (right before my shutter failed at 7K)
Finding Camera Actuations Hope it is what you want.

For the canon, I found astrojargon. Here is the direct link for download: //www.astrojargon.net/EOSInfo.aspx

It's freeware, simple to use as well. :)
