Has anyone else noticed that the site is taking forever for the past few weeks with some very long load times? Holy cow sometimes I can click a link here go read a page on another tab, come back and finally the page loads. Its ONLY DPC. Is this an effect of the "Upgrades"?

Edit to add I just counted each time I go from a thread to the community link it's 10 seconds to go back to the community page. Some of the thread links will open in 5 seconds others take longer. But every time I go back to the community link it's 10 seconds. Surely I'm not the only one huh?

I'm on a very slow computer* and things are working much faster than that, at least right now.

*P-III, Windows 2000, DSL, AOL ...

I'm on 50MEG cable with a fast PC. And it's only this site. Fredmiranda, Facebook, and even the website of the newspaper I work for, which is notoriously slow is almost instant up page for page. But not this one. I can literally go to another site and load 4 pages before getting back to the community page here.

Definitely not seeing any delay like that here.

Check one thing though, have the task manager open and on the processes tab. Sort by CPU. When you click, is there a process that is high in CPU usage?

What's the squawker? Fire?

I'm a photojournalist who shoots spot news for the local paper. I also volunteer as a firefighter photographer. So it's my two way radio/scanner.

I want to emphasize, this is the ONLY site that this does this on. I can load 4 threads on another page while this one is doing that. My internet and PC aren't the issue. It does it on this laptop and my desktop.

I understand. But, can you check the CPU usage? Is there a process that increases and stays high in usage while the page loads.

Also, what browser are you using?

Couple things to check:

1) Does this happen in IE?
2) In Firefox, click Help > Restart with Addons disabled. Try and see if it delays.

I don't use IE. so I don't know. I have already disabled addons when trying this no difference. I am uploading a video of the CPU processes now. Will add when it's done on youtube.

CPU usage

Its hard to see, but firefox looked to be the 2nd one down, what was the CPU value? What was the next process down from that?

Firefox stayed at 8 or less, the next one down is network and it never goes above 5.

Try a few things..

Start --> Run --> type "CMD" hit enter --> Type "ipconfig /flushdns" hit enter

close command prompt.

See if that does anything.

Also try and dump the temporary files and browsing history from within firefox.

Clicking on the Community link has seemed really slow for me lately too. It does seem a bit slower than normal today. From the video it looks like that's what you are also doing? If I use the dropdown links and go to a section within the Community header things pop up instantly. I still much prefer the Community view of the forums, so it would be nice if this were fixed somehow.

Before dumping your browser history (because you won't be able to get it back) check IE. You have it installed, check that out to rule out some systematic problem.

Just as slow in IE. And there is NO history as I've not used it in probably 18 months on this laptop.

Which part of the Community does it happen? Does it happen with any other part of the site? Is there part of the site where this does NOT happen?

Be specific if you can, there is a way to test by knowing each answer.

Its ONLY the community link, which is how I browse the site.

Does this page load slowly: //www.dpchallenge.com/forum.php

Does it load slowly if you hit CTRL-F5?

highlight and open in new tab, your link opens instantly. CTRL-F5 takes 10 seconds to reload from a community page.

It happens for me when I click directly on "Community".

Same here, but not for any other link under community.
