I bought the HDV-Z96 LED HD. It was the newer version that DIDN'T take AA batteries so I ordered a couple of Sony batteries (20 bucks) and tried out the light today.

I've been walking around my dark apartment with it to see how far the light reaches when turned on all the way up (Dimmable). This is going to be mostly for video but it can very very easily be used for photography. It's 5600K and comes with a magnetic filters (Diffuser and orange). And for those who do video, it is flicker free. If you do a quick ebay search you'll see them for about 60 to 70 bucks. You can buy a bunch and stack them to make larger panels.

Just wanted to put that out there in case anyone was looking for lights.

threadjack alert!

I am looking for good lights to use for home indoor portraits of my kids or just to use for some challenges. right now i use two 500W halogens, but while they are plenty bright enough but they are only 2900K which is way to yellow/orange for portrait and get way too hot. i have to diffuse them with parchment paper so i dont start a fire.

im looking for something with a light thats more natural or matches my flash better. i really only need them for fill. I'm not sure if i should get some leds or go with some cheap slave flashes.

Well, there is a flash built into the unit I mentioned. I haven't tried it out yet. If you are doing it for fill, why not start with a reflector. If you need more, this baby is cool to handle and bright bright.
