Cold and chilly morning as the sun is starting to come up.
Breath of Morning
Outtake
Several minutes later the sun broke over the crest of the mountain. I decided to compose the photo with road in the shot.

Honestly, I think none of these would've done any better. But they're so cute, I just wanted to show off. I've never seen a fence with such interesting imperfections. And now that I've noticed...I realize they show up better when the fence is wet with rain, and in early morning light. Just when I'm walking the dog, so it works out for me. |

Entry did fine by my standards (though not so much by DPCs - bottom third or so).

I was quite surprised by my entry, I didn't think it would do as well as it did. I think the subject was the key to the scoring.
Anyway, these were taken at the Mystic Aquarium in Mystic, CT. They ran a special Santa day a couple days after Christmas. I was trying to get a good shot, but between the crowd and the number of people running up to get their picture taken, it was quite hard to get a good angle and shot.
Anyway, here are the alternates to the entry.
