January and garbage are a sublime combination. Of course, I'm in. My 200th entry will be garbage. Just like the others.

I entered garbage into a landscape challenge, perhaps I should now enter a landscape into a garbage challenge...

I have a quick question RE this challenge (actually, regarding Basic Editing in particular, so if I need to post this as a separate topic, let me know, I'm very new here lol)

I use Lightroom 3 to process my photos and convert them to jpeg - in the basic editing ruleset, I'm not 100% sure what I can and can't do in terms of editing. Can I use any of the "preset" processing techniques that Lightroom provides? Are these allowed to be used in ANY ruleset (considering you don't adjust all things yourself, just click a button)? Or is it considered "basic" since anyone can do it without any actual editing talent?

Thanks in advance guys, I am hoping to enter my very first competition tomorrow night :)

Basic editing allows almost any edits that apply to the whole image, which includes almost everything you can do in Lightroom. The main things you need to stay clear of are the spot removal, adjustment brush, and lens correction. I don't think any of these would be used by a preset, but I don't use many presets so I can't be sure.

Welcome and good luck on your first entry!

I'm supposed to take an appealing photo of a generally not-so-appealing subject.

Is it supposed to be aesthetically appealing or just a good picture appealing because my image is most certainly not pretty.

My image is going to bomb but I don't mind, I like it. :-) Best of luck to everyone.
