Well, I have implied my ignorance in other posts but now I will just come out and ask. Where and how do I need to post a photo so that I can link to it so that I can display photos or at least a link to a photo in these forums. I am a little embarrased because I know I should know but I don't. I think it requires a bit of a programming background and I'm an artist. I once tried to link to a photo sharing site that I use but that didn't work. I have some cool 4th of July photos that I would love to share with you guys. Somebody, please help me and no 'programmer speak', please, unless you explain what it means. Thank you.

well, i usually go to the exact page that i want to link to that contains the photos (make sure it's not a page where you need to have a password to get to the site). www.pbase.com is used by many people on this site for that purpose.

copy the whole link out of the address bar.

then come here, and start writing your forum entry. when you come to the point in your entry where you want to put the link, click the little globe icon in the top right corner of the forum post. it will put the code in your message that you need to create the link. just change the fake address (www.address.com) to the address that you copied from the other website and the link text to the text that you want to use as the link (the text that shows up in blue/bold). and that's it.

hope this helps :)

Thanks for the explanation - that was the question I was going to ask.

Noticed that lots of people here use pbase. Had a quick look there and read something that soon they would be charging for showing pics on pbase. Any update on that? Don't want to start with them if soon they start charging a bundle.

Alternatively, is it okay here to post links of pic on your own site? Am asking since here at dpc i have only seen links to pbase and similar sites.

Haven't heard an update on pBase, but I paid them voluntarily anyway because it's easy and efficient. I'm guessing the charge will be nominal anyway. I believe you can use any site to which you have valid access as long as the URL works. If you have DSL with a static IP address you can host them on your computer at home (although I wouldn't).
