I've made some note cards via digital printing before. Now I'd like to make some that feel more traditional by attaching photo prints on pre-cut/scored/folded blank cards. Has anybody done this before? I'd love to figure out where to find the blank cards and what sort of photo safe adhesive solutions are out there. Any words of wisdom or experience? |

I believe I make cards like you describe all the time. See if THIS is what you're looking for.
The product may or may not be what you want. It kinda sounds like you want to be able to remove the photos from the cards. The adhesive used in the above product is permanent. |

Those look very nice. Thanks for the information, and I've sent away for the samples and catalog. |

I do something similar, with handmade papers from a local paper store. I buy 6.75"x9" note cards, with a fold. I print a logo on the back side, and give each card a unique number. For the front, I print a 4x6 image, typically on Epson lustre paper and cut it out using a rotocutter. Then I use 3M spray mount/ photo glue (Which is permanent) to stick the image to the front of the card.
Has probably a more 'home made' look than those on the linked website, but that is rather the feel I was aiming for.
The first card I did like this:

Gordon -- nice touch adding a title and a number - your idea was what I was going to do for my holiday/Christmas cards this year but your twist is a good one. |

Really like your card's look Gordon. Is the title and your signature on the front done on the computer as well or did you hand write it? If so, what type of marker or pen did you use? |

I write on them with a fountain pen - the ink spreads/ bleeds quite nicely in to the very textured paper for the card.

Gordon, your handwriting sucks... although it's perfect for the design of the card... is it usually that much of a scrawl or did you deliberately exaggerate it?
;oP

I'm a doctor now... handwriting degenerated appropriately :) I'm also a lefty, which never helped.

You know what is really bad about all these place on line that sell postcards and cards? They want you to spend an arm and a leg for a small amout or you can buy 500 or more for less. Why in the world would I want to buy 500 of 1 print? Maybe I looked at the wrong places.
BTW...I did recieve their catalog and did like what they had, but still to expensive for me. I don't want to charge people $3.00 for 1 card.

At least in the case of the linked supplier, you aren't buying any prints at all. They provide card 'frames' that you stick your prints to, so 500 cards can be used with 500 different prints, if you wanted to.

Right, these are pre-cut tiny mats with a foldover back ... very cool. I know there also exists a variety where there's a slip-in pocket for the photo instead of the glue-in window of this sample. |

The slip-in ones are used by Ofoto ... if you order a set you'll (probably) get the manufacturer's name off the card.
I'd check at some of the major paper/print suppliers ... I'll see if anyone at work knows anything. |

Seems like the slip-ins would be better as you can remove the photo -the receiver may want to have it framed :) I'll check out that site. |

I use a blank linen card by Neenah Paper. It's an A6 panel folder (#84217) with the matching envelopes. The paper is really good quality and there is an indented area in the front of the card that almost fits a 3 1/2x5 picture. You have to trim a little off the pic to make it fit but it looks really good sunk into that little indentation. I print on Epson Heavyweight Matte paper so finger prints don't show on the picture. (Since most non-photo people are unaware of where their fingers are on a picture.) I print the location or subject along with my name, e-mail address, and the words, "Prints available" on the back. The whole thing with a sealed clear cover from clearenvelopesonline.com costs me .725 cents each.
Good luck!
