Try that again in English? :-)

It's a thing that mounts in the doohickey for a gas thingamajig and there's a part that goes round and round and the fancy design thingies make it so it works proper & stuff. |
OMG! YOU SAID "DOOHICKEY"!
When I was growing up I would be helping me dad with something and he would say, "hand me that hickey over there". I wouldn't know which tool was the "hickey" tool so I would say, what hickey. Eventually it would get on his nerves because I didn't know one "hickey" from a another. In a last dish effort to let me know what tool he want he would say, "THAT HICKEY; THE DOOHICKEY!".
I grew up thinking that a hickey was a tool and a DOOHICKEY was the important tool. ROFLMAO!
I can't believe you said it. Brings back memories of my dad!
Thanks Art! I needed a good laugh.

Seems to me, it might be something in a dollhouse: but what, I have no idea yet.
My dad said "doohickey" too... but *I* always knew that a "doohickey" was "that thing over there I'm too lazy to remember the name of yeah THAT one!"

LOL!
I have, to my knowledge, never heard anyone say "Doohickey" except my dad till tonight in this thread.
Thanks Robert and Art!
Made my day.

Is it a trip mechanism for a trap?

Does it have anything to do with the theatre? |

No.

Yes, but not in the direct sense.
This object was inspired by the love of theatre. (that's the hint I'll give right now).
Admittedly, this may be a little on the abstract side, so I won't expect a direct guess.

Shaker handle for fake snow?
Trip handle for the big trap door in the middle of the stage, for when the central actor gets boring?

A mock guillotine handle/trip device? It's attached to the basket the head rolls into! |

Is this something you expect most of us to have seen? |

Hi Everyone,
I'm pulling the image and replacing it with something a bit easier. After looking at the guesses, it was too far out there. I think only a handful of people would be able to get it.
It was a vintage "remote control" handle to operate the light over the bed of William Gillette . I took it at his castle in Hadlyme, CT. He hung the wicker all over the house. He also designed many of the light switches, handles, etc in the style of the theatre.
Sorry about that, it was late last night and I was processing a bunch of photos for a magazine. Here is an easier one to give others a fair chance. Again, sorry about that.

I just got to work. IF i ever get one of these right and have a shot at posting a pic, the contents of the frig here at work will afford me many opportunities. I swear I work with a bunch of slobs. The frig stinks with old rotten foods, and the table had a big brown smear of what looked like baby poop on it. Yuk! Every weekend I come in and have to play clean up before I can even put my lunch away.

I shudder at the thought. Have you perhaps considered just eating out for lunch.... Be-damned the cost, there's no way I could deal with that.

Got a mystery shot for us Sofia?
Maybe we could just post wild guesses until someone posts a new one? : )

Is it a pair of glasses? Or perhaps a coffee grinder? |
