My native New York State: Apples, pure maple syrup, NY Cheddar, Pizza, Heros, Wine, Cider, potato chips (originated in Saratoga Springs) naturally carbonated spring water, Hudson Valley Fois Gras, (shameful if ya ask me) fresh seafood, fresh water fish, egg creams, bagels. I forgot roasted chestnuts. Sold on the streets of NY in winter. Also hot peanuts.

My adopted state, Florida: Oranges, grapefruit, seafood, gator, and boiled peanuts.

Rhode Island

Stuffed quahogs, coffee milk, Italian sausage and peppers, dough boys, New York System hot weiners, saugies (beef franks with natural casings), and some standard Portuguese fare--chourico, linguica and peppers, Portuguese soup (caldine), Portuguese sweet bread (masa), malasadas (fried dough boys but much lighter--made with egg).

Also, Italian food is pretty standard here. Pretty much any ethnic cuisine can be found in Rhode Island. Seafood is pretty important, also.

Oh yeah---Del's frozen lemonade.

And the standard New England fare---clam chowder (the white kind), boiled dinner (smoked shoulder or corned beef and cabbage, potatoes, and onions), Yankee pot roast, clam boils....

Pretty much any beach town in Rhode Island has shacks that sell sacks of clam cakes (fritters with bits of clam) as well as fried clams (whole bellies), and other fried seafood and 'chowda'.

These are all great! This is helping a lot, and it's so much fun to read this... makes me hungry! It's interesting to see the similarities by region.
