I was incredibly curious which posters would do better. There were some awesome motivational posters and there were also some awesome demotivational posters.
But seriously, folks? That many motivational posters beating out the demotivational ones? That makes it sound like we're the happy, sunshiney people instead of the cynical group I thought we were.
Really now...

Idunno. In an odd way (that perhaps a psychologist could explain) I find the most of the demotivational posters are actually motivating. Perhaps because they are intended to be humorous, and the best humor always has an inner core of truth to it.

The true demotivation comes with the voting. |

In all seriousness, it's no surprise to me at all... images that evoke a positive emotion nearly always seem to score higher than images that evoke a negative emotion, even if the negative emotional connection is strong.

Probably not. I just could not find anything that was really good which is interesting because I am still away from home with much less opportunity to participate in DPC so I am now looking at it more like an outsider. My current conclusion is that WPL is changing what people submit - winning is everything (good idea but it makes much less interesting entries).
PS And please, oh, please reply in full sentences. And think about it before you do. Thank you. |

I thought mine would be threatening enough to evoke a high score out of fear. Sadly, nobody respects threats any more. *sigh* |

Of the motivational/demotivational images, how many people contribute to the forums? Of that, what was the ratio of motivational to demotivational? What was the ratio of non-forums contributors to contributors? |

The winners are truly fantastic!! (And you ended your sentence with a preposition :)
I was just curious, before the challenge even started, which would be more popular. I thought it would be a pretty even mix in the top 20. It wasn't even close. Then I looked at my own scoring, and even though I usually enjoy the demotivational posters so much more than motivational, my top 12 were 2/3s motivational, and 1/3 demotivational.
Just an interesting result.

Well;, I don't have the inclination to count them all, but 20 of the top 40 are more demotivational than motivational in my book, though some are kind of on the fence... So even if the top-20 were slanted, the 2nd 20 made up for the difference...

+1 Wendy! There were some great de-motos in there (as well as the happy ones).

Hey, if there were no "positive" posters, I would have been top ten! |

It might have helped that the images for the motivational submissions were so darned impressive as pure photographs, despite the depressingly up beat tone of the written messages. |

Yup. I gave about 12 eights in this challenge. 2/3 of them to motivational. I guess it's all my fault! |
