I was in a Toronto shop with my wife, which had a section full of used cowboy/motorcycle chaps. A guy was helping me out, but my wife took off, so I felt hurried and left without buying anything. She said it was a shop catering to homosexual fetishes. But I don't see what's wrong with that. I just want some chaps. |
I suggest wearing the chaps alone, no need for anything between your skin and the leather. Plus it'll be much cooler and you might get a gig singing with the Village People. |

Cowboys and motorcycles don't make it. (Ok, they do make it for homosexual fetishes). Cut resistant inlay is the magic humdrum - clogs up the chain before it can do its dirty work. Don't fuck about is the non-magical equivalent. |

Really none of my business Slippy, but if you do decide to buy protective gear, go with that which is designed for logging use... they have a layer of kevlar which will stop the chain from eating up your leg... or you could go with the cycle gear and learn to ride with one leg. :O_)

Slippy, fer gawdssake get actual bucking pants. I bought one for a bf many moons ago cause he was out there in the bush chainsawing up 10 cord of firewood each year. And one day the chainsaw did slip, and did rip through the bucking pants and get caught up in and stopped by the orange spaghetti stuff inside the bucking pants. They were worth the roughly $70-$80 I spent. Please don't mess around with your safety...
ETA:...or your cojones. So what if they get a little sweatier than normal? Just rearrange em, like all guys do.

I think I'm going to get some safety pants. I'm visiting family in the States this weekend and found a couple of places nearby so I can take advantage of the cheaper US cost of living despite the weakening Canadian dollar.

Slippy, so get em already!!! Make sure they're a good brand like Husquvarna, I got those for the then-bf because I lived in a logging town for awhile, and that's what the logging guys wear.
ETA: Looked like a truncated ScoobyDoo to me ;-)

you should practice using just the edge of one side of the chain for detail work.
also you can use a torch to add tone, and color to it. then oil it for sheen, and protection.
the pros pertty much do all the detail work with the chain saw, out side of say the eyes, and fingernails and the like.
nice work though !

Well done! |
