obviously i'm new to this site but saw a few neat "desaturated" photos. i'm guessing that means removing a color? or some colros from parts of a photo??
anyways, how do you so this? photoshop?
i tried searching but i'm getting to many results on peoples photos not on how to do it.
so if you could give me a clue, or link me to some threads that talk about it, that would be nice. thanks! |

Photoshop is the easiest way. In a nutshell, select the area you want to desaturate and adjust Hue/Saturation by dragging the Saturation slider all the way to -100. If the area you want to highlight is different enough from the surrounding image, you can sometimes desaturate individual colors or channels for the entire image without making a selection. |

ok a quick question... how do you select a specific object... its taking forever to trace it with the lasso tool. the magic wand too isnt properly selecting all of the object on various settings either. i see some photos and the desaturated objects have a beatiful razor sharp edge. does this mean the person sat there forever tracing almost every pixel?
help! |

Use the magic wand and vary your tolerance until you get it pretty near, then hold down the shift key and keep selecting.
It takes some practice but you will get the hang of it.

If you have Photoshop, I find the Select>Color Range to work best. The magnetic laso works good sometimes too. Color Range is like the magic wand, only 10 times better. |
