My suggestion is a for a decade themed challenge. I have an idea for "the 80s" but "the 50s" and "the 70s" would probably be fun too. :)

...like, oh my God, this 80's child thinks that would be a totally tubular challenge...

Egads! Definately the lamest decade to date! ;)

<--- dreads the day when 80's will be retro...

What cave are you living in? Look at all the kids these days and then look at all the kids from the early 80s. It's already started.

Yup, I myself recently bought a skirt that is disturbingly 80s in style.

They're back baby!

Sadly, I could put in originals for all those decades :(
50`s
60`s
70`s
According to my daughter, I`m still wearing most of the clothes from that era anyway.

I have never left the 80s! I still have lots of neon, my old atari, i love 80s music better than any other genre, and I can't wait til the 80s is back in full swing where I won't look so crazy all the time :)

If I remember correctly..the trousers were known as "bags" and the shoes were "platforms".

Oh the embarrassment !!

It should NOT be the 60's. They say if you can remember the 60's you weren't there. And if you weren't there, you sure can't remember them. So, EVERYBODY would just be, guessing.

Perhaps sadly, I claim the same. :) Although I gotta admit, my musical tastes reach further into the 70's than one may expect, and I never looked good in neon.

FWIW, I'd love to see this challenge done. :)

That would be totally rad!

ugh, horrible fashion memories! i did that too--but only half--like, i dunno, some flock of seagulls do or something, who knows. i'm not sure which was worse...that one or the later permed and blonde bon jovi style. needless to say, those pictures have been banished to the depths of an unmarked box somewhere. :)

Proof that you did not have to suffer through the 70's. At least they brought back hip huggers and not big vertical stripes, harvest gold avacado green, burnt orange or butterfly collars. Shudders.

The problem is there were plenty of things worth forgetting, along with creative new ways of forgetting them. Unfortunately, a large proportion of the "homeless problem" today is directly caused by so many young men of the sixties not being able to forget ...

The generational romance has a gap of about 20 years or so. In the 70's, there was a fascination and resurgence of stuff from the 50's. The 80's brought a nostalgic look at the 60's. The 90's saw comebacks from the 70's, and now the 80's are emerging. It has about a 20 to 25 year curve on it.

Cool idea (and fun shots! Especially geewhy ;)) How would we word the challenge?

"Take a photography that represents the decade of big hair, bad clothes, great music and classic movies-- the 80s!"

I have to admit I'm a little concerned about who that is standing next to Jacko in the photo. He says it's his brother Beagleboy, but you can see what he thinks of his brother by just looking at the label he gives him in the photo!

It used to be about a 30 year cycle, but as you say it seems to be shortening to under 25 years.

At this rate, we will eventually run into one of those time paradoxes (being discussed here) when next year's fashions are this year's "retro" look ...
