Take 'em both. Why not? You have SD95 equivalence messed up, unless you're telling us it is the "equivalent of a FF 28mm coverage", in which case yeah, it's about the same as 15mm on the 550D.

All ready to go, just waiting for the weather to be right! I need frost, patchy fog and a sunny day to get the kind of images I am after :) Nothing like that in the next 7 days :/

Wednesday is looking good!!! They canceled patchy fog yesterday but it is back in today's forecast:
"Frost and patchy fog in the morning. Mostly sunny day. Winds northerly and light."
WOW!! Getting nervous and excited!! 6am start, take off at about 7am.
PS Sunrise is at 7:25am. I hope I won't stuff it up! Still not sure what lens to use first.

Unfortunately the balloon ride has been canceled (it is Wednesday morning here). The fog is too thick!! Back to waiting for suitable weather :/

Awww... the fog will lift soon enough.
I was out on my scooter near Uitgeest this weekend and saw two hot air balloons floating along and thought of you :)

You are going to have a wonderful time!! Just make sure they don't do this:

which won't happen unless it is REALLY crowded when you take off. This turned out just fine, by the way..... the basket kind of smooshed into the other balloon, then bumped along a little and then just floated on up into the sky.

Great way to make someone feel at ease, any tips for a fear of spiders? ;-)

Anyone who suffers from these fears been on a balloon ride for a photo shoot? How bad is it? I freak out on glass-bottom lifts in high rises but have no problem looking down through a glass floor in a helicopter - what could be the difference? I would not like to have to jump off the balloon if I couldn't take it :)

I feel your fear!

I am terrified, and I mean TERRIFIED of heights - however I LOVE flying in planes, but high buildings or towers seriously scare me - I cant even watch a film where building heights are involved - my hands sweat, I get a knot in my belly - it really is true fear. I remember seeing a vid about a year ago where a guy is climbing a tower and I think I got about 50 seconds into it and had to turn it off.

Just tortured myself to find tis vis - got about 12 secs in a and hands went sweaty - 40 seconds I closed the window..

I've figured out that I'm not afraid of heights, I'm afraid of falling.

I can handle any height as long as I don't think that I'm somewhere that I can randomly fall. Give me a railing, basket, window, and I'm fine. Put me anywhere near a ledge, or wobbly ladder, or bouncing in a harness, and I start to freak.

I used to live on the 34th floor of an apartment building that was open on both sides (front door and balcony were open air). I never had a problem with it because of the railing. However, I can't get more than a few feet from an open edge without getting really nervous, even if it's only a few feet off the ground.

Let me know how it goes.

I too am afraid of heights like bridges and even the second floor in the mall and parking garages (I can feel the floor shaking and I can't take it). But I love airplanes! My hubby would love to go on a balloon ride but I always thought I would freak so we haven't gone. It would be so cool if I could surprise him with one.

I watched all of it with an unpleasant stomach sensation so I am probably not as bad. Still those kids are crazy!

I very much admire you for facing your fears. I'm terrified of heights as well and don't know that I could make myself even consider a balloon ride. I have lived near the Royal Gorge for almost 25 years and I can count on one hand the number of visits I have made there. I did go once at the request of the company which manages the bridge to take pictures of an "extreme sports" event they sponsored (base jumpers and zip line walkers etc.). My heart was in my throat all day. I did get some decent pictures though. Those kids are amazing.

Anyway, I hope you have a wonderful time and bring back some incredible pictures.
