My Goals:
To have one of my challenge suggestions become a challenge.

Inspired by driving up the freeway and seing Melbourne's skyscrapers on the horizon!

That makes it easy for me! :) I can see the Melbourne City from 24km away! (straight line, 35km to drive)

Inspiration! I left my beer on the kitchen counter. I can see it from here. *reaches for his camera...*

Have some ideas already. Actually fits well with something I was already planning on photographing next Saturday.

Damn, one week too early. I'm flying to Hawaii two days after roll over. Could have been some cool shots from the plane. Or even photographing First Class from my seat down the back. Oh well, I'll just have to shoot my score from any challenge to that those in the top 10.

Drat! Sitting on top of a mountain with a city spread out in the valley but I'm not going back home till after the rollover

So, to avoid DMNC, should we put the distance in feet or meters for the title of the image?

Someone with an awesome astronomy setup is going to put one up in lightyears and just throw the rest of us totally out of perspective. .

Paignton, right next to Torquay, I can't see Sydney or Russia. On a clear day I can see Portland Bill though ;)

I take it that doesn't mean the object in the distance has to be a city skyline? Could be a tree or a mountain too or whatever. Or am I wrong in my thinking here?

Take a photograph of something far away. Make it funny, bizarre, pretty, or whatever -- just so long as it is interesting and far away.
Could be anything.
I havent entered the challenge, the opportunity has not arisen, I still have time but it is looking a bit bleak. Shame as I had loads of ideas (obviously)!
Grrr!

How distant , is distant enough?
I don't want to enter and get a load of DNMC, because it's not deemed far enough.

I'm having the same issue. I took shots yesterday, but I assume that people would think it's not far away. Then problem is, most things are pretty closed in around here. You have to go away to get far away. :)

Melbourne City is visible on the freeways from about 30km away. I think it is something difficult to estimate without points of reference. I think the safest bet is to have something near to emphasize the far away bit e.g. if a child is much bigger than the scyscrapers then they are probably at a distance from the child :) (or you have a T&S lens)
