I'm looking for a flash for my Sony DSC-F707 and found the Sony HVL-F1000 as a recommended flash. I understand that the accesory wire has a proprietary connector on it. I guess the camera has a proprietary connector on it also limiting the choices of which flash you can buy to one that is compatible with the Sony proprietary connector. Does anyone have this flash for their Sony F707 or another flash that they have any comments on? Or any other suggestions?

I have the promaster DX5750 flash for my 707, you have to buy a sony module(PROMASTER DX SONY MODULE 5550/5750) so it will work with the camera, I think sunpack makes one as well.
Promaster 5750

head on over to the Sony Talk forum and do a search on external flash

Sony Talk Forum

There is a lot of good info there for flashes and the 7x7

Not all external flash units will allow you to use the Sony Wired remote....but some guys are working on making a Y connector so it will work.

I have the HVL-F1000 flash from sony and while it works just fine I find it annoying that I can't swivel the flash head in both directions like I can with my Promaster FTD 5500. It also bothers me that when I am using the flash than I am unable to use my remote. I thought that Sony's flash was the only one that would work and it is nice to hear that maybe I will be able to use my Promaster flash instead. Do you think, James, that the Sony Module 5550/5750 would work with my Promaster 5500? If not maybe there is one that will? I'll have to do some research. Thanks for the tip.
