This comment is absolutely spot on.

I have donated to charitable donations and given away perfectly good cars, equipment and household items and when asked why I do it, my response is always the same: "Cause I remember POOR only too well"

Take the gift, learn about your new passion, enjoy your environment and the people in it and you will make your DPC family proud of you... and in time you will be in a position to help someone else.

Ken that's an awesome offer. It's great to see member's helping out people that they don't even know to learn and grow!

Toltyou will grow with the site as I have. There are 2 things that can help you become a better photographer. Passion for photography and DPC! When I joined I had no clue what I wanted to do with photography. I never shot anything professionally or artistically before and 2 years later I have sold many of my prints online and at local markets and could not have done it without this site, supportive friends, and a passion for art.

Good luck in your future endeavors.

I may have a well used 5 Mp Kodak I could send you if you want it. It's not much, but works. I think.

You can also take very good pictures with a camera phone. So, I agree. Stick around.

RamblinR, how do I download GIMP & will it fry my computer? I had only been editing my photos so far with my camera's internal editing options and to be honest I loved it; so easy a caveman could do it.

I still can't get over how generous everyone on this site is. This site really is a community rather than just a website. I love the way everyone is kind and works together. I'm definitely sticking around for the long haul. :) Thank you all so much.

..This computer already has something called Lexmark Imaging Studio. I don't know what it is and I don't know how to use it. Is it a photo editing program?

Here's a link to a thread with all the free software... link. If you've never used editing software, you might want to start with something more basic. There's plenty of basic stuff on the list. Or then again, you might want to jump right in with Gimp. But all the links are in the thread.

Tell you what, sometimes we have to give other people the chance to feel good about the great things they do and the sweet people they are. I also accepted a gift on this site in my worst times. That same cam went to a young boy, gifted, but poor. He lives through his cam. Makes some mula from friends and family to do the things that must be done. If I did not accept Melitia's great gift, I could never have been in a position to doubly blessed her for being such a wonderful friend.

Show us the angel-like horse LOL! And accept the gift with grace.

paint.net is quite a good free editing program. I can't remember if it's in the list in the other thread or not.

My computer won't let me use GIMP. :( It has more safety features than a car booster seat, and it seems to think GIMP is dangerous. If I monkey with it a little, I might be able to change its mind. So far I can't even get the paint.NET download window to pop up. It's the computer. :(

LOL I have been hiding behind 12 MP and on-camera editing for quite a while. This experience is definitely going to teach me alot more about photography. I won't be able to rely on the camera to do the work for me anymore, and to be honest, I am glad for that. Time for me to improve & become more self-sufficient. :)

I've been trying to upload my glowing horses, but my camera won't turn on when I plug it in. It just beeps at me. In fact, one of my challenge entries may be in jeopardy because I can't squeeze the original off my camera. I need to find a card reader thing to get my pictures off. Hope I can do it in time. If I do get them off, I might very well print off a copy of my glowing white horse. It really does look like something I did on purpose, lol.

Poop...I just sent the cam out....and you know what....I did not include a usb cable because it has beebln missing for years. Maybe yous will work with the panasonic I'm sending. What's even more funny...I have at least 10 card readers I don't use that I could have sent.

Ill mail you one via regular post office mail.

Grandma said I could use her card reader to retrieve the pictures off the card. :) Very happy.

Does it take the old/normal style USB or one of the many new varieties? I have gobs of the old ones lying around and two different newer styles.. I will never understand why they started making new USB's that are camera-specific... Must be like car parts.

Kenskid, don't you dare send me anything else, LOL. You have helped me so much by offering me a camera, I could never ask for anything else. :)

Got the camera yesterday, but I got home so late, I was way too tired to come on and post.

This camera is AWESOME. :) Not only is it my favorite color, it takes killer photos. I also like that it doesn't make a loud, alarming noise like my other camera did... LOL. Much more horse-friendly. :) Thank you so much, Kenskid!!! I love it!

See? There you go, it's all good. Amazing how well things work out, if you let them :-)

Good luck with the new camera. Don't forget to change the camera in your profile.

The very best to you young lady.

Trust me when I say that this place is truly one that you will not soon forget. We might disagree with each other on occasion, but when the chips are down there is no other community like this one... people really do care for one another.

Good luck with the new camera... now go out there, take a lot of pikkies and make us proud. :O)

Wow...that was quick...who say the Post Office can't do it?

I'm glad you like it....I forgot to tell you it was pink ! LOL....

If I remember correctly, if you have it on auto mode, make sure you have lots of good light. It will try to give you a picture even if it has to lower the shutter speed and that sometimes results in blurs ! There is no "REAL" way to adjust shutter or Fstop but there are many, many settings in the menu. For example...sports...inside...outside...portrait...etc...each one of those settings must work with the speed/fstop to get you were you need to be.

I think I reset to factory....PLEASE make sure you set the TIME and DATE if you plan on entering any photo challenges !

I think the camera is this one here.

Good luck with you photography.

Don't let your boyfriend "fix" this one, OK?
06/22/2011 02:09:46 PM · #48
:) Ahahaha, I won't let him fix this one, LOL. If something goes wrong someday with this one, I will take it in to be repaired. ;)

Thanks so much, Kenskid! I was taking macros of daisies the other day, just to see how close I could get, and wow this camera is sharp! I really can't tell a tremendous difference between this one and the other one unless I try to zoom way, way in. :) I love it.

Thanks for everything, everyone. :) I am really loving this site. I think I'll stick around for quite some time... When does the world end now? 2012 or something? LOL.
