I know you can use noise reduction software. In PSP I have several options for noise reduction:
-despeckle
-edge preserving smooth
-median filter
-salt & pepper filter
-texture preserving smooth
Are all of these legal in basic? You can adjust the strength of each one but it applies it to the entire image, not selections. |

I don't see why any of those would be illegal. As you said, as long as they apply to the full image, you are safe. |

Just don't mask or select. |

... and apply to the background layer. |

I agree -- if those are all options are under the "Noise Reduction" heading, they should be legal in Basic if applied to the whole image uniformly and do not create something new (other than a less-noisy image). |

I, too, have a question. I think I know the answer but my head is a bit fuzzy and the wording in the description is not clear enough about adjustment layers!
If I add a border and it adds a new layer to the image is that allowed? I still have to flatten the image.
Are layers allowed for this reason?

Basic does not allow any layers containing pixels. The easiest way to make a border is to under-size the image slightly and then enlarge the canvas to the final size. |
