Clapping for Sonifo. :) |
I agree, Sonifo. If a person thinks the title is "stupid" or "uncreative' or whatever, give the picture a score and move on.

It seems clear to me that this site has been deliberately set up as a contest for titled photos, or else the titles would be suppressed like the photographer's comments. If a title is inappropriate or lame, then vote it down if you need to. But as long as a titles are allowed here, I don't think it's fair to penalize someone for using one the maximum effect.
You might happen to think photos look best displayed at 600x400 pixels. Does that mean you should penalize everyone who chooses to use the full 640 pixels allowed?
This seems like the same old argument where people want their taste to dictate the rules. Borders/no borders. Nudity/no nudity. Kids/no kids. Pets/no pets. What I like/what I don't like. Et cetera, et cetera, ad nauseum. I think I'll go look at some photos now... |

I somewhat agree with Brandon... I believe that the title and border become an integral part of your submission here. I have been tolerant of the titles and borders that I don't like, but I will say that they CAN diminish the impact of your photo when they are not both well-executed.

I agree with wingy, the titles main purpose is to differiate from the other photos. And if it is to be judged then I want it judged seperately or maybe even putting it in the rules stating that we must judge the photo and title together and not just the photo.

Every photo is automatically assigned an ID number when it is submitted -- it becomes part of the URL when you link to the page.
I suggest you ask Drew and Langdon if they'd be so kind as to tweak the code on the vote page so that the ID number appears where the title does now -- that will provide a completely neutral unique identifier (numerology adherents excepted).
If they decline to do so, then I suggest that course of (in)action might well serve as an implicit statement that you are to judge the photo and title together... |

All of the above is why it becomes more important to make comments. Instead of just "Sucks", I think the rater should say "Title Sucks" or Border Sucks" just to let the photographer know what influenced the vote. I don't mean this in a bad way just using it as an example. |
