I might just add something that puzzled me earlier:
NDx8 is a 3 stop filter -> 2x2x2 = 8
NDx400 is a 8+ stop filter -> 8 stops is 2x2x2x2x2x2x2x2 = 256 (or 2 to power of 8), 9 stops 2 to 9 -> 256x2 = 512; so NCx400 is somewhere in between

If you stack them together you will get a 10+ stop filter (400x8). I find this combination more flexible than one 10-stop filter. It is also cheaper. I bought Hoya filters. I also use a CPL filter (Circular Polarizer).

Well, this is how I understood it. Did I get it wrong?

i think it's definitely more flexible but one problem might be if you're using an ultrawide, you might get vignetting around the edges.
i use a 10 stop on my 10-22 and have to remove the uv filter or i get a major vignette.

My lens is 15-85mm, no vignetting problem with 2 filters.

I think vignetting would be good in this challenge???

3 Minimalistic landscapes from my trip to South Africa in March this year. All taken in the Orange Free State region of South Africa.

So I'm kinda thinking about pointing the camera up at a cloudless blue sky and be done with this challenge. I mean, how much more minimalist can ya get? :)

Would this be minimal enough?

Either it'd score low... or people would be mad that it didn't.

I donno; I'd call it a landscape and I'd call it fairly minimal as well...

I'd say the whole solid structure takes up what....? ....about 1/5 the space as the whole photo?

By my definition, seascapes are a subset of the category "landscape". So I have no problem with that image in a landscape challenge. We can't even *have* seascape challenges, too few of our members live on the sea. It wouldn't be reasonable. So I use the broader definition when scoring in DPC.

I tried shooting for this challenge, but got minimal results.

I went to 3 different locations that I like, and really couldn't come up with much. I have 1 that I could use an opinion on. Anyone want to take a look?

Sure. Send it over.
