I just watched some Japanese TV and it was the cutest...no youtube yet, but hopefully sometime soon. Words will have to do.
2 brothers are talking with a TV director. The director and older brother are in on the joke. The older brother is about 13 and the younger is about 10. They are talking about a possible show and are brainstorming together. In the room there's a fish tank with all kinds of different fish. Actors in another room provide voices for the fish as they swim around. The older brother and director pretend they can't hear it. The younger brother is confused, not sure what to think. He starts answering the questions posed by the fish. When the director and older brother start talking about the fish, what kind they are, where they were caught, the fish respond saying "Tell them we're not from there, we're from some other place." The boy falls for it completely.
Then, the director tells asks the boys "Which of the fish would you like to eat for the show?" To which the voices start crying and asking for the younger brother to save them. The reaction was just unbelievable. It made you want to cry. He really thought he was the only one who could hear them. In the end, he saved the fish. They thanked him.
I don't know if the joke was ever revealed to him...it was cute...then I thought "This kid is gonna have issues..." |

Missed that. We had another channel on... Italian girls speaking Japanese in their manga shop in Italy somewhere; and a high school marching band. |

When I was very young, we would cross the Canada/US border often to visit my grandmother. While driving by the "your car is going to get searched" parking spots, I asked my dad what all those drawers were for. He told me "That's where they put people's heads after they chop them off." I soon forgot about it.
Some time later, while crossing the border, we got pulled into one of those spots because my dad had to go in to show some papers. I freaked. Mom kicked his ass when he got back.
Well... I'm not damaged, so I think that kid will be OK. ;-)

I've done similar things with my daughter. She has learned now to say "are you kidding daddy"? |
