I'd like to get some exposure to model photography on a prints for time sort of basis, just for something different. Are there any UK agencies for models that are just starting out for this kind of thing? I've tried searching Google but I either get toy models or amateur porn sites.. :-| |

I was a professional Model for 16 years and I always kept my eyes open for newspaper ad's. You might want to post a small ad in your local paper. Models are always looking to build there portfolio! When I was modeling I would trade my time for pictures! Do it and you will be surprised on how many calls you get! |

try www.musecube.com
Most of the models will do TFP/TFCD...trade for prints or CD of images.
You can also post a free portfolio of images. Worth a try..it has worked for me. |

Check the back of Practical Photography or other similar mags - you might find more useful URLs that way.

Thanks for the help everyone. That website looks surprisingly good Julia, even for the UK. :-) |

model agencies won't give you models for free, but you'd be surprised who would make a good model. The hottest model in a photograph can be someone you wouldn't really notice in a crowd unless you're going for the playboy bunny look. You can always try bartenders, but women are always leary of being approached by men, especially older men [or atleast they should be]. |

I use OneModelPlace. I know Kevin Riggs does a lot of work through OMP too.

I have looked at OMP and now musecube (thanks!), but they want some initial pictures in your portfolio. I have practiced with family, but don't want to put my step-daughters images on the web. How to you get started on the initial portfolio?
I'm a 40 year old male and hate the stereo types associated with asking people, women in particular, if you can photograph them. I would prefer to find people interesting in having their picture taken.

Try to take some pictures of friends?...people who already know and trust you and are willing to have their images on the internet. I have the advantage of being female...this helped with my entrance into getting people to pose. Good luck to you. |
