Duceppe defeated.

Quebec is an orange doughnut with a blue centre.

Always been broken, yes.

Unfortunately, it will probably remain broken since PEI will never give up any seats as their 4 seats are part of the constitution. Rep by Pop would require them to give up some.

I guess we remain a Parliamentary anomaly in the West then.

And Ignatieff, AND Minister Lunn, apparently, losing to Elizabeth May! Cool. NDPers cheering the grrens at NDP headquarters.

Has anyone seen this guy Harper's birth certificate? ;-)

It doesn't matter. He doesn't need to be born in Canada to run in an election. He just needs to be a Canadian citizen.

So, the question should be, where are his citizenship papers? ;o)

Being a Duel Citizen, I wonder if I could be President of the United States and Prime Minster of Canada at the same time... then I would create one GIANT Country called Socomville!

How about solving problems in a more diplomatic and less violent fashion, please ... ;-)

Dang, I almost moved to Canada in 1972 -- I could be PM by now ... ;-)

Here's a twisted fact: the BQ lost less than four percent of their share of the vote, resulting in a deficit of 46 seats! Now that he has his majority, Mr. Harper will have somehow lost his zeal for reform, which he of course strongly supported in the fractured days of PC/ Reform.

Wow, Duceppe steps down. What a night. :/

More history: the Greens have a seat. May took out a Conservative cabinet minister, Gary Lunn.

Now I recall attending a Provincial Parliament session in Victoria once; it was pretty obvious why they call it British Columbia ... :-)

That would be the Provincial Legislature ;o) or Legislative Assembly.

I can't remember which ... I think they had robes and wigs and sat at a long table, which they'd bang on every so often -- I also can't remember if that was in approval or derision ... :-(

I don't think so, I gathered it was the usual. It looked rather like a British court (as seen on US TV). It was a long time ago, so maybe things have changed, or maybe it was something just for us tourists in the upper gallery. Or maybe I've just seen too many episodes of Rumpole of the Bailey and it's all a blur in my mind ... ;-)

Why is this one so special?

Duceppe is leader of the Bloc Quebecois, the separatist party. A very skilled politician, and the BQ was official Opposition under Lucien Bouchard after 1993 election. Now they don't even have official party status after tonight. He is a brilliant politician, but much of English Canada reviles him.

Now she won't have to fight to participate in the debate for the next election.

The Liberals and NDP will have to take responsibility for the Conservative majority....they triggered an election that nobody wanted, now they have to live with the results for the next 4 years.
05/03/2011 01:49:34 AM · #45
I wanted the election, and I'm somebody. Nice to see the talking points work though. ;-)
05/03/2011 02:11:18 AM · #46
I wanted the election too. I had faith in my fellow Canadians to see through Harper's lies and doublespeak and track-record. Wow.

No wonder I'm atheist, faith doesn't work for SHIT. ;)

Ugh. Just listened to Harper's victory speech. He's such a two-faced, slimy, venomous snake.

Marxist Lennonist Party? WTF? It was at the top of my ballot. I almost put my X there for fun.

As I am certain many others could have. Take the time to thank the "Coalition" for an election that truly was not wanted nor warranted.

Any bets Iggy moves to some other country.

Ray

Yeah, thanks, coalition. Also wondering what other country Iggy is going to pimp next. Just glad I voted Green.
