I beleive the eagles moved their nest last year (a tree next door!) So it is a new nest with new views. |

Any idea what happened to the other nest? |

If your question is about the Alcoa eagles, it is the same nest. That Y-shaped branch has been there for the three years I've been watching. It is the branch the fledglings seem to go to first to exercise their wings.

Sorry I was off by a year for the new nest. The Decorah eagles moved in 2013
"Viewers missed the 2013 season after the eagle couple built and moved to an alternate nest. Cameras were installed in the new nest in time for the 2014 filming season, when the couple selected it again" |

That explains it. Thanks for clarifying. I just discovered the Decorah eagles last year (2014) and really enjoyed them. |

The first egg has hatched and I just watched one of the parents, ever so tenderly, feed the little one a scrap of fresh fish.
Amazing sight. And, oh yes, addicting. Year after year.
Sorry: should have added at the Decorah Iowa eagle nest.

How many generations of these eagles now? This was already a long running thread when I joined this site in 2007.
My error. I looked at the earliest post and it was 2011.

Maybe you're remembering this thread from 2006 ... I think the Bay Area Peregrine Falcon nestcams date from around the same time. |

Watching for the third egg to hatch. Three eaglets would be a successful hatch. Decorah Eagles |

Two of the three baby falcons are outside the nest box this morning. My goodness - what ugly babies!
Thanks for sharing this link, Paul, it has been - will be - fun to watch. |

If you've never seen an eagle emerge from the egg,
this is your chance. (suffer thru the 5-second ad)
Those Decorah eagles and the cameras that record them have done it again.
That was recorded a month ago. Drop in and see how those three little ones
have developed in such a short time. |

Coincidently, just moments ago I checked on the babies - all three were sleeping soundly with the sound of chirping crickets lulling them into deeper dreams.
Now that I think about it - probably frogs.

I wish something like that would happen to me. We had a family of Dikkops nesting in our garden a few years back but I couldn't get close enough to get any decent photos of the babies - only this video.

Just checked on the Decorah eagles - 2016. Good news.
three eggs are in the incubation stage; 2016 Nesting Record
Egg #1: 2/18/16 @ 8:28 PM CT
Egg #2: 2/21/16 @ 7:46 PM CT
Egg #3: 2/25/16 @ 6:59 PM CT
And the cameras are live with one of the eagles doing the sitting duty.
They are showing two nests this year; another is called Decorah North. No activity is showing there yet.

Here's an update. There are two hatchlings in the Decorah Eagle nest now. About two weeks old. |
