I really liked the first one, but my wife corrected me.

I really like this shot, but I knew it would not be apparent it was urban.
I liked that goose biting the bench, but it bothered me that there was another duck (partial) showing.

I talked myself out of this one.
My entry, which was not urban enough for voters.

Technically the one you entered was far better. But the outtake did show a more urban setting and may have scored better. |

I wonder how many of my neighbors drove past me when I was kneeling in the middle of the target parking lot. I felt very foolish. On top of it all, it was a saturday afternoon -- so there was a constant stream of cars coming and going. :)

I think I'll leave the seagulls at target alone from now on. Not only did I get funny looks from the people driving by, I got a piece of glass or a really sharp rock that went through my jeans and embedded itself in my knee. Urban wildlife is dangerous! :D

The seagull with the french fries...I love it. It was one of my favorites. |

And I was too chicken/shy to go to the mall and photograph the pigeons I saw sitting on the big "HOME" sign. I thought it would make a good photo for the challenge but I didn't want to stand in the middle of the busy mall parking lot with my zoom lens. |

I was actually hoping to find a bird nesting in the letters of a storefront, but it was a little too early for that. I love seeing nests in the big letters -- that's the ultimate in urban nature, imo. :) |

Entry:
Another shot from the day:
Thanks to those who enjoyed my encounter! As I said in the notes of my entry, these guys usually run away. I have lots of shots of them running away.... |
