This could be (maybe) a good one.

Our birds are searching for mates and advantageous nesting sites this time of year. I plan to follow a guy with a long beard... because the birds like the prospects.

Gosh...I wish I had more time these days to shoot...looking forward to voting on this challenge!

Back then could have also be camouflage...

Lol, my goal this week is to get a single picture where the bird that is flying is actually in focus.
Screw composition, lighting, and all that junk...baby steps ;-)

Good luck to you...LOL!

Lucky for me...the challenge description does not use the words "in focus," but in Jason's case, the challenge description should include the words "tastefully dressed!"

Have fun everyone!

LOL - that picture's from the old PSA days, right?
Boy, was that airline ever fun to fly.

Whatta' blast from the past. PSA was headquartered in San Diego, flew it all the time. Fun times! I go back far enough that my first memories of flying are from a TWA Lockheed Super Constellation:

I borrowed that picture from this blog. They have a collection of great shots that would make Austin Powers proud.

DrAchoo, that was quite some source you found. Thanks for posting it.

One time, flying down to San Diego from SFO there were low flying clouds and the pilot ruminated out loud about the advisability of landing in San Diego or diverting. He found a hole in the clouds over the airport and said "we're going down" and turned the 727 into a STOL aircraft, and down we went. My lunch followed on a later flight.

What's with the go-go boots and hot pants? I can't believe this was once considered appropriate work attire for working women. Some of those attendants lounging around on the seats like their ready for "anything"... woebegone are the days when it was a man's world. Sheesh...

It was a different world back then. I think the med kits had some O2, maybe a blood pressure cuff, and a syringe of penicillin. ;)

Actually, the official patient zero for HIV in North America was a gay flight attendant working out of Toronto.

10+ for your green go-go boots!

It's funny (frightening really!) to read the blog and the comments at the end...

I am amused when I hear young women say they are not feminists or "women's libber types" and they have no idea how quickly the woman's place in the workplace has evolved. I do remember when flight attendants had a little button that said "I'm Debbie, fly me" as part of their uniform; and while I may miss bits of it, I sure am glad my daughter won't have to work in that sort of environment.

Today's photos. Those are not from my entry shooting, so I think I can post them here to give some ideas.

Oh DrAchoo, I think the airline costume is much cuter than that kilt you used to wear. Say, is this how you paid for med school?
03/16/2011 11:07:43 PM · #21
You know the joke. What do you where under your kilt?
03/16/2011 11:10:16 PM · #22
Do you mean, "What is worn under your kilt?"
03/17/2011 10:36:12 AM · #23
::daintily covers eyes::

Well, whatever secrets are worn under the kilt are really for the imaginations of Mrs Achoo and not for the rest of us to wonder about impolitely.

Hmmmm...as I recall Jason does have a fondness for the improper wearing of hats as well, but I digress...

::wanders off to find a decently plummaged bird::

Just missed out on an entire flock of Red Robins taking off from the freshly snow dusted lawn. Oh well.

Hey guys, this challenge was a great idea... Although I didn't come up with a shot that I am satisfied with for the challenge, I have gotten out twice this week to shoot and have learned a ton about birds. The refuge that I shoot at has a website, and I stumbled across this article on it. Some really good info here so I figured I'd pass it along, even though its alittle late..
