I gladly would appreciate any kind trick or help for taking interesting babies's photos .
This is my nephew Andrés smiling , he is 3 months old and he always moves when I try to take photos ....
What do you think of this one ?

Thank you very much for your time ,

Lovely baby, I am no expert but the light looks a little too direct and gives it a very unflattering flat look, abnormal skin tones.
I have always had decent results with natural light, reflected if needed, bounced flash would do.
A nice gentle gaussian blur on a separate layer then erase the eyes etc to give you a dreamy feel.
Do a search on the site and I am sure there have been many chats on this subject.

Babies are just great to photograph, but they sure are slippery little suckers! Always moving...you got a great expression on Andres' in your shot. I agree with peecee...the lighting is the problem. Natural light works well...can you take his picture near a window with a lot of natural light? Also, his little outfit, although quite adorable, is white and that creates problems sometimes. Some of the cutest baby pictures I've seen are of babies au naturel...just something about a chubby little baby, bare feet, maybe just down to his diaper. You are on the right track. He is a cutie!!! :o)

I have been playing with different arrangements to create some photos with my youngest and I really enjoy setting up theme like toys and props with either a blanket or solid color material, when he is busy playing I get the best shots, they are all natural like too and not forced. I can sure fill up my memory card..
Great shot you took I like it!

I just had a five minute tweak on the pic, far from perfect but with some more careful work it could be much better ie blur the background etc.

typo edit

Here's my five minute stab at it...maybe I used too much blur but I wanted to see how it would look with peecees suggestions, which were great, BTW.

I agree about the blur, just a fraction less, it is a vast improvement.
Paul.
Thanks Laurie.

another suggestion is to include the hands. Set your camera on a tripod, use the timer, hold the baby's hands together with one of yours under the chin. when you are at the end of the timer, let go suddenly. The baby will not usually have time to move his hands away from his chin. Imagine this wonderful expression in your shot with both hands visible. :)

just a suggestion because most baby pictures look alike!

Have not tried it my self but try to take a picture when the baby is crying. Even if the picture turns out bad you at least got your mind off the babys constant crying for a while.

And the tip about the hands togeather, the baby will probably do it by it self when crying hoping for a hug like usual when it you come.
