Well I am a single parent to two young kids so I think I have more experience in the hair ripping department but not sure that would help :)

Go natural. Forget the other stuff.

Remember.."in the style of", not "make a Librodo copy".

Natural light? No flash, no nothing?

I'm in Vancouver, BC. Rain, rain, rain, no sun, no light, no nothing. That won't work, will it?

It's not enough to just be positioned by a window when there's no sun out, is it?

Sure it is. That's still a directional light. A very nice, diffused directional light. Manny's pictures aren't typically done with direct sunlight, but with diffused daylight, like from a north window or something.

Alright, anybody willing to take a look at something I have and give me some pointers?
I probably won't end up submitting it because its a self portrait, and I would rather see a picture of a friend get slaughtered then a picture of me :-P
However, it was a great opportunity to practice both lighting and the postprocessing afterwards, so I was wondering how people thought I did.
Who can I send it to? :-)

Well - not professional models. Couple of girls from our congregation. They will make for a good photo session.

Let me offer some Librodo advice. Keep the eyes closed. That'll get you a high placing.

This seemed like the perfect opportunity for a trip to Thailand, get a gorgeous model, and elephant. But I had to settle for something a bit less ambitious.

See, now if someone else on this site processed the way Manny does, they would get crucified with all the "overprocessed" and "very unnatural" remarks.

I admire Manny's work and will sit back and enjoy.

I have an elephant on order; should arrive on Monday. Fedexed, and it wasn't cheap.

yeah, the elephant was cheap but the shipping was $18,795.12 , right, lol
