Invest $10,000 at 10% interest, compounded daily. Allow it to grow for 60 years untouched.
Future value at your age 78 will be $4,030,974.
You'll never have to worry about social security, which will not be available to anyone younger than 78 by the year 2071.
Of course, if the world ends on 11/11/11, then be sure to give the $10,000 to your favorite charity in the short run. |
Where the hell do you get 10% interest these days? |

If history repeats itself, we will have a "Paul Volcker" person replace "Helicopter Ben". But, before that happens, the "bond vigilantes" will demand a return on investment far above the real inflation rate. |

Loss of buying power is always a risk. But, just think of the tattoo sag over the same amount of time. |

that reminds me...
a 70 year old woman wanted to commit suicide by shooting herself, she called her doctor and asked him where her heart was located. He replied, "about 2 inches next to your left breast".
She shot herself in the kneecap.

Well those holes they put in their ears can be taken care of at any time. For around $200 bucks per ear they can be cut and look like normal again. I have a friend who is about to do this so he can move up in the company he works for.
Before and after surgery.

I'm getting close to 70 so I'm in a good position to tell you what I'll remember when I am 70. What I remember best are my efforts to make the world better. I worked for John Kennedy's presidential campaign even though I wasn't old enough to vote. I was in a segregated high school in the south and I worked to promote integration. [This did not make me popular with the administration or most of my fellow students.]
I'm now getting tired. I'm counting on those of you who are young and idealistic to nudge the world in a better direction. It certainly needs it. You are going to have to live in this world so it is up to you to make it the kind of world you want to live in.

Haha. All were great ideas. I do want to stay close to home, so I think I like the whole tattoo idea. Plus, I think I might get my nose pierced. Mom was saying she wanted to take me to Brazil to see that John God guy from Oprah. It sounds really cool, but it'd be too quiet and peaceful for an 18th birthday. |
