Actually I'd say a trip to Venice, Italy. THAT is something you will remember for the rest of your life :)

Hmmm.. I kinda doubt you'll remember it no matter what it is, unless it's something more than an item, perhaps you'll leave your house and strike out to do something you want/believe in... College? Peace Corps? Military? Hippy Convent? Nunnery? Lots of choices there. You could of course just stay local and do something, but somehow with time, I suspect even that would fade, better to really make a big bold move, after all, soon you'll be 18....

Unless of course, you'd like to just get something very nice and enjoy it... That's always easy, and not an entirely horrible option..

Perhaps you just need to reflect upon what you imagine yourself being in 10 years, who are you at 28? Where do you want to be in life? How did those that are already there get there (Best to find one who came from roughly the same socioeconomic status..)...

Then again, wtf do I know, I can't remember a darn thing about my 18th birthday party, except that I'm sure I must have bought a pack of cigarettes for the first (legal) time.... Certainly that'll be the one thing I recommend you don't do.

You could sky dive... one tends to remember that.

My son took a 2-week trip to Europe... he loved it and still mentions it often.

Indeed...kinda like the old saying: "If at first you fail, try try again...except for skydiving"

I dunno, when I'm 70, I'll probably still look at the crazy stuff I did when I was 18 and laugh.

A tattoo is just a reminder of the way things were and what was important at that time.

assuming you can still:

a) remember why you got it.
b) decipher what it is.

Seems to be a Canon trend in this thread...so it looks like I'll have to do it.

Upgrade to a Nikon...you will not regret that move one bit...and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

tattoo of Godzilla eating the dpc ribbon. art will help with the design work I'm sure.

to the person who said a tattoo might be regrettable at 70... at least it'll be memorable.

I wish someone had told me this at age 18.

Invest $10,000 at 10% interest, compounded daily. Allow it to grow for 60 years untouched.
Future value at your age 78 will be $4,030,974.

You'll never have to worry about social security, which will not be available to anyone younger than 78 by the year 2071.

Of course, if the world ends on 11/11/11, then be sure to give the $10,000 to your favorite charity in the short run.
