I did some maternity shots for a coworker earlier in the month and have entered two of them. The one for "Waiting" did quite well, but the one in the June Free Study bombed.
Anyway, I have posted here some others from that shoot and would like some comments if you have the time. Also, if you have other maternity portraits to share, that would be great! I'll be doing two more ladies I know in the upcoming months.
This particular gal did not want bare belly shots, so we opted for a softer look on most of them. She also wasn't feeling the greatest that day, so I didn't want to take forever.

Judy and Thom...those are beautiful portraits. I wish I had enough sense back when I was pregnant (all three times) to have portraits taken, but all I thought was "I'm so FAT!" Now, in hindsight, what a beautiful memory. Thanks for sharing those! :o)

One of my coworker's wife is pregnant and she looks so cute with ther belly. They make the cutest couple and they are both good looking people. I asked them if they were gonna get their maternity portraits taken and they said no, so I didn't persue it any futher. It's such a shame, cause I would love to take their portraits.

You should ask her...nothing ventured, nothing gained. I was not at all sure about asking Aimee, but she was really excited about having some done. I think, especially if you offer to do it for free (which I did) they might consider it. I just don't think a lot of couples give it much thought and/or don't want to spend the money.
Any constructive critcism for these shots? I'd like to know a little more why my June Free Study scored so low, but also ideas on what to improve on for the next time I try this. |

I think they are lovely...I am especially fond of the one with hubby "listening" to her belly...how sweet. Very special moment, beautifully captured. I am not particularly crazy about the three where she is sitting down, mostly due to the angle because it looks like you were taking the photo from a standing position...maybe if you were kneeling down on her level? I don't know. Other than that, I think it's a great series. Don't know why your shot didn't do so well in the free study...I gave it an 8! :o)

| The second one has soooo much great potential! It's a dramatic pose, just needs some punch on the lighting..more contrast/shadow. |

I totally agree too you should ask her...often people don't have portraits done cause of cost.

Only problem is that it is actually the husband the one I know. I've never actually talked to the girl. It would be kinda ackward to just ask.
