Hi all!

Since there seems to be a lack of photographers and photos from Iceland ;) I thought I should add a couple of pics to the collection here :)

I recently traveled a bit around my country and went camping on Snæfellsnes. That place is a photographers wet dream, beautiful and surreal landscape with Snaefellsjokull (Snaefellsglacier) everpresent.

Here´s a sample of the pictures I took...

Nr.1

I was at the docks and saw lots of seagulls flying.. I decided to test out my Sigma 70-300mm APO (vers.II) and the sports mode. The zoom was between 250-300mm and the picture is cropped a bit.

I have a newfound respect for you bird-shooters, it is damn hard to get a sharp picture of them flying..

Sports mode, ISO400, f/5, 1/1000s

Nr.2

This one is an overview of the docs there. I was in a small village called Arnarstapi on the western part of Snæfellsnes.

Kit lens, Manual mode, ISO100, f/7.1, 1/400s

Nr.3

Went for a walk between the village Arnarstapi and another village which is called Hellnar. Found this beautiful land/seascape

Kit lens, Manual mode, ISO100, f/7.1, 1/320s

Nr.4

Still on the walk between the two villages. Found this surreal landscape made out of moss covered lava. The mountain in the background is in front of Snaefellsjokull and it is called Stapafell.

Kit lens, Manual mode, ISO100, f/7.1, 1/200s

Nr.5
Still on the same walk... Amazing colors in the cliffs..

Kit lens, Manual mode, ISO100, f/7.1, 1/60s

Nr.6

Here I´m on a beach called Djupalonssandur and there is Snaefellsjokull in all his glory. For those who don´t know, this glacier is an volcano and is believed by many to be one of the earth's seven major mystical power spots.

Kit lens, Manual mode, ISO100, f/7.1, 1/800s

Simply gorgeous! The landscape and scenery is breathtaking and I'm adding it to my list of places to visit :)

The yellows and red appear a tad oversaturated on the docks picture but everything is still beautiful.

I know what you mean!! You can travel around it(Snæfellsnes) for days when you have a camera with you.
here´s 1 of mine from arnarstappa.. I´m gonna try to dig my old photos up from there and send it. Drithólsvík,Snæfellsglacier, arnarstappa, sönghellum,Búðir og Hellum. And thats JUST the south side of Snæfellsnes

P.s Massamyndir Ivar. Mig hlakkar rosalega til að koma aftur til íslands og taka myndir í náttúrunni. Sakna víðáttuna,
útsýnið og bara það að geta verið einn, í friði einhverstaðar úti í rassgati að taka myndir :)

All of the shots are great!!! The bird shot is excellent IMO.

I would really like to see the last one converted to grayscale and then adjusted through the channel mixer to give it a high contrasty feel. I think it would look like a Ansel Adams Photo.

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the comments all!

Here´s my try at the last pic in b&w. Tried to burn and dodge a little, gotta practice more, my b&w conversion skills aren´t up to par yet :)

I haven't been to Iceland in far too long - these photos are lovely reminders. Last time I was there I had my OM1, not digital, but my technique was always to underexpose. Between that experience and Heida's burning fad I decided to play with a couple of your photos -

Very nice. I like it very much! Looks like it should be in my Ansel Adams desk calendar to me. :o)

Nice burning! :) I used the same principal when taking most of the photographs in that trip, to underexpose that is and meter for the sky. Never fails! :)

The black&white shot here above is my first attempt at burning.. never tried it before.

Wow,I just came back from having a bunch of pics developed and I had my 3rd picture (see my first post) blown up to 30x20cm and I was very pleased to see how good it came out on paper :)

Well, if anyone is interested, I put it up on dpcprints.

Thanks all for your nice comments!

P.s. I don´t see many prints with frames there? Does the frame detract from the picture or enhance it?

It looks great! I think the dark frame works to bring out the details and shadows in the picture.
