Sorry for the size on this picture..Anyway..I took a picture of my husband looking at the flag..(see the reflection in glasses) and then cut out my husband and took the picture of just the flag I took earlier that day and merged them together. I am not sure what to think of this. I also took some more pictures this day in Topeka, Kansas (our Capital)and I would like opinions on them. the website to view those is

Click on the folder titled Topeka. There aren't many...I am working on touching up the others.

Cool idea. This is just my opinion but maybe blur the flag a little. That should help create the illusion of depth. Also feather a little bit around him. Right now he has that hard edged look that is usually associated with cut out pictures. Especially around his hair.

I was going to make a suggestion, and then saw pcody was thinking in the direction I was. I agree with all that he says, except I would maybe make the flag a bit more transparent and blurred (for dof).
Cool idea.

How do you make the flag transparent. I have Photoshop CS and the old photoshop...and I mean old. I prefer the old..but if you teach me in the new one..I would like to make it transparent. I wanted to do that in the beginning. Thanks. I also have another picture..Natural picture...forum called Abe Lincoln.

if the flag is in a different layer than the husband, you can change the opacity of that layer. that will give you the effect you're looking for. (in PS 6 and 7 it's a slider in the layers-toolbar, not sure about older versions)

i think the picture is great and it looks fine the way it is but the idea about blurring the flag sounds like it would make it look even better
