Well my June FS entry marked the end of my resolution. New Year's resolution that is.

I wanted to name my photo just that: End of a Resolution, but figured nobody would get it (see my NY Resolution Entry).

So I came up with End of a Revolution. I think many got it, but also received many comments about people not getting the title. For those who didn't get it: Every day the earth revolves one full turn. The sunset marks the end of the day, hence the End of a Revolution.

My photo did quite well and I'm very pleased with the result. Thank you to those who commented. Despite that, I spent many agonizing hours trying to decide which photo to submit for this challenge. Here are some of my out-takes:

I'd love to get comments on these, if anybody still has the time.

Thanks for listening.

I prefer the 2nd and 3rd shots to the one you entered. They have much more personality and mood and even an 'awwwww'. Your submission was good, but likely fell to the 'oh, another one of those...' whereas your outtakes have distinct individuality and personality.

mario -- I left some comments on the photos themselves. they are great, and as nice as your entry, if not nicer (I'm a fan of the unusual)

I suspect that the ducklings would have placed in the top 30, maybe with a deeper title.

Don't you just hate it when nobody looks when you ask for an opinion?

Anyway, I like to mood of photo 1. The colors are lovely too. It would interesting to see the result if you utilized PS Filter-Noise-Median (radius 1) - the water looks just a little noisy to me.

Photo 2 is very cute and I think the sepia tone really adds to it.

Photo 3 is an excellent capture! What lens did you use for that one?

I really wanted to enter the kids playing in the fountain. (The child knealing is plating with a rubber duckie) I was affraid that I would alienate all those kids picture haters. It was my prefered shot.

The ducklings were shot using my Canon 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 USM. Shot through the chicken wire, but since the focus was on the ducks about 6-12 inches away from the wire, it just added alittle softness to the image. The title of the image is just temporary.

The lighthouse is a blended exposure, and saturation ahs been pushed quite considerably, perhaps a little too much.

Thanks for the comments.
