I want an onion cutter that makes the bloomin' onions like the ones you can get at Outback Steakhouse. I have looked around online, mainly at Amazon. The ones I found there are either cheap and won't deal with anything but a small onion ($5 to $25 range) or monster shelf mount stainless steel rigs that will do anything ($300+). Is there anything in the middle of this somewhere that works well?

I almost thought this was a spam post, until I saw it was from a longtime member!
I'm afraid I don't have an answer to your question, however. Have you tried a specialty gourmet shop or website?

I've never found one that was worth the price for less than a few hundred bucks. If you're not doing production, and if you have a good thin-bladed slicing knife, it's not hard to make these by hand, though.

That is correct and I do have an excellent set of knives. I found a video on YouTube and I'm an expert onion bloom cutter already :)

This just sounds too much like a British slur. "That Setzler bloke is a bloomin onion cutter!"
I might be able to use that on someone. Thanks. |
