Happy New Year.
January 1 is a good day to take a few minutes to update our photo copyright notices to 2011. This may require venturing deep in the layers of camera menu choices. It can also require figuring out how to update metadata templates in image transfer or processing software. Those who have web pages may need to dust off the instructions for changing copyright notices hidden in the fine print of the page footers or the "About Us" page. [Good for Langdon -- I notice that DPC already has the 2011 update in the footer fine print - maybe automated?]
Of course there is an alternative. Get out your new calendar, pick a random date later this year, and write a reminder to go back and correct all the erroneous "2010" entries in 2011 images. Don't ask me how I learned this.
Anybody have a system that makes once-per-year tasks easier to remember? |

Yep, it's called Outlook Calendar... after getting burned more than once on tasks that fell through life's little floor cracks, I now enter tasks into Outlook that I feel are at risk of getting forgotten. It's saved my bacon more than once. |

Thanks, bob350! This is an excellent reminder of an important "to do".
In Aperture, click on the Metadata tab. Click on the "Gear" menu. Choose "Manage Presets...". I changed the "Copyright:" to © Richard H. Hahn 2011. From now forward, upon import of new images, all will be meta-tagged with Creator, Provider, Contact and Copyright. (Along with all the standard EXIF data.)
eta: Just entered this task to do January 1 every year in iCal. This syncs well with all my computers, my iPhone and MobileMe.
